Style & Concord ... in Concord.

Built in 1930 in the leafy suburb of Concord West, Hotel Concord was purchased by ex-Wallaby front rower Bill Young, and underwent a major refurbishment in 2009. As one can tell from the facade tiling, great effort was employed to re-capture the original Art Deco spirit.

The designers chose a 150x75mm vanilla base tile with a bevelled edge, a popular format of the era, which has been laid in a brick bond below the frieze tiles, and in a right angle herringbone style above, with a base of 150x75mm Heritage Brown tiles. The multiple decorative bands - the Grafton cap, Rose embossed and flat strip, were all hand glazed by Olde English Tiles at our Sydney plant, in matching Heritage Brown glaze.
