Situated in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, this distinctive, character-filled home, built in 1898 & exhibiting stylistic influences of Arts & Crafts, Art Nouveau & Queen Anne Revival, was definitely showing its age and in need of a complete renovation - inside & out. Despite its generous proportions and exotic detailing, the entry hall looked shabby and uninviting - the original floor boards were warped and stained by water damage. The owner chose to replace them with a restrained, elegant and hard wearing tessellated floor from Olde English Tiles - the Liverpool pattern in black, white & pale green, combined with a simple strip border. The finished result strikes a perfect balance between the richly detailed facade and the understated sophistication of the interior, allowing the owner to explore her artistic ideas and personal style.
